You Don't Have to Have It All Figured Out to Raise a Child Who Knows God

Can I be honest with you for a second?
Pour yourself a cup of coffee or ice-cold tea if you prefer in this Texas weather, and come sit with me for a minute, because I want to tell you something I wish someone had told me sooner.
It Starts With Knowing God. Not Just Knowing About Him
Here's something I've come to believe deeply, both as a mother and as someone who has spent years working with families: everything flows from knowing God. Not knowing facts about God; Not checking off the right religious boxes. Knowing Him: His character, His faithfulness, His love, His truth.
Before a child can understand who they are, they need to know who He is. Identity without a foundation is just a feeling — and feelings shift. Purpose without a foundation is just ambition — and ambition runs dry. But when a child knows the God who made them, the God who calls them by name, the God who numbered every hair on their head? That becomes an anchor that holds through every season of their life. This is the order that changes everything: God first, identity second, purpose third.
When we get this right, when we give our children a deep, real, personal knowledge of who God is, we are handing them something no classroom, no culture, and no circumstance can ever take away.
You Are the Most Powerful Discipler in Your Child's Life
I want you to sit with that for a moment, because I know it can feel like a lot of pressure. But I'm saying it not to overwhelm you, I'm saying it to empower you.
Research confirms what the Bible has been telling us all along: the home is where faith is formed. Not the church building. Not the Sunday school classroom. The home. Which means you, at the kitchen table, in the car on the way to practice, at bedtime when the lights go out, and the real questions come out, you are doing some of the most sacred work on the planet.
Deuteronomy 6 paints this picture beautifully. God doesn't tell His people to send their children to a weekly program to learn about Him. He says talk about My commands when you sit at home, when you walk along the road, when you lie down, and when you get up. In other words — weave Me into the fabric of your everyday life.
That is discipleship. You are already living those moments. You just need the tools and the confidence to use them with intention.

You're Not Doing This Alone, and That Changes Everything
Now, here is where I have to stop and tell you the most important thing about all of this. You have a Helper.
Jesus said it plainly in John 14:26: "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, He will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you."
Did you catch that? The Holy Spirit teaches you. He brings things to your remembrance. He is actively working in and through you, which means when you sit down with your child, and you feel completely unqualified, you are not alone in that moment. The same Spirit who inspired the very Word of God is available to guide you as you share it.
You are not raising this generation in your own strength. You never were. This is not a burden you carry. It is a partnership you step into. And that, my friend, makes all the difference.
Why 4ThisGeneration Exists
This is the reason I created 4ThisGeneration.
I watched so many beautiful, faith-filled mamas walk around carrying the quiet weight of "I want to do this right, but I don't know how." Mamas who loved God, who wanted their children to love God, who felt the urgency of these years, but who didn't have a roadmap. Who felt like they didn't have enough time, or enough Bible knowledge, or enough of something to do what felt like such an enormous job.
And I thought: what if we made it simple? What if we handed her practical tools that fit into real life, into the messy, busy, beautiful rhythm of everyday motherhood?
That's what we build here. Resources that help you move from feeling overwhelmed and uncertain to confident and intentional because your child's faith journey doesn't need a perfect mother. It needs a present one.
Whether your children are toddlers learning their first Bible verses, elementary-aged kids starting to ask the big questions, or tweens discovering who they are and what they're made for, there is a place for you here, and there are tools designed to walk right alongside you in this season.

This Is Your Invitation
You don't have to wait until you feel ready. You don't have to wait until your schedule clears up, or your house settles down, or you've read every parenting book on the shelf.
You just have to start where you are, with what you have, and trust the Helper who promises to meet you there.
Discipleship isn't about perfection; it's about faithfully planting seeds. And the seeds you plant today? They will bear fruit in ways you cannot yet imagine.
So pull up a chair, beautiful mom. You belong here. Let's do this together.
